Analysis of four development trends of touch screen technology in the future

at present, touch screens basically adopt plug-in structure. The display module and touch module of this structure are two relatively independent devices, and then the two devices are integrated through the back-end bonding process. However, this relatively independent plug-in structure will affect the thickness of products, which is not in line with the development trend of increasingly lightweight touch display products. Therefore, the concept of embedded touch screen is generated. The embedded structure embeds the touch module into the display module, so that the two modules are integrated, rather than two relatively independent devices. Compared with the traditional external hanging structure, the embedded structure has the following advantages: only two layers of ITO glass are required, the material cost is reduced, the light transmittance is improved, and it is lighter and thinner; The touch screen module does not need to be fitted with the back end of the TFT module to improve the yield; The touch screen group and TFT module are produced at the same time, which reduces the transportation cost of the module. Embedded touch screen can be divided into two types: in cell technology and on cell technology

1. Embedded touch screen structure

the definitions of the two technologies are slightly different, but the principles are similar. The touch screen is embedded in the LCD module. In cell technology integrates the touch screen under the color filter. Because the touch sensor is placed inside the LCD panel and occupies part of the display area, it sacrifices part of the display effect, and also makes the process complex. It is difficult to achieve high yield, which is also the highest price ratio in China. On cell technology integrates the touch screen on the color filter, instead of embedding a touch sensor in the LCD panel, it only needs to form a simple transparent electrode between the color filter base plate and the polarizing plate, which reduces the technical difficulty. The main challenge of on cell is the amount of noise that the display is coupled to the sensing layer. Touch screen components must use sophisticated algorithms to deal with this noise. On cell technology provides all the advantages of integrating the touch screen into the display, such as making the touch panel lighter and significantly reducing the cost. However, the overall system cost reduction is still far less than that of incell technology. The embedded concept was first put forward by TMD in 2003, and then sharp, Samsung, AUO, LG and other companies put forward this concept one after another, and published some research results one after another. However, due to technical problems, they failed to realize commercialization. The embedded touch screen has been developed for nearly 10 years. At present, there is still a certain distance from commercialization. However, the embedded touch screen represents the development direction of the touch screen in the future. Manufacturers who actively reserve the embedded technology will be in a relatively favorable position in the future market competition

2. Multi touch technology

in 2007, apple realized the multi touch function through the projection capacitor technology, which provided an unprecedented user experience, reflected the difference from other touch technologies at that time, and made the multi touch technology a trend in the market. At present, the multi-point touch technology has developed from two finger scaling, three finger scrolling and four finger dialing at the beginning to supporting touch recognition and multiple input modes of more than five points. In the future, the multi-point touch technology will be developed to achieve more detailed screen object manipulation and more freedom

3. Hybrid touch technology

at present, although there are many types of touch technology, each technology has its own advantages and disadvantages, and no technology is perfect. In recent years, some people have begun to put forward the concept of hybrid touch technology, that is, two or more touch recognition technologies are used on a touch surface to achieve the purpose of multiple touch, so as to promote the development of wood plastic composites, siding and other building plastic products to achieve complementary advantages and disadvantages. At present, a hybrid touch screen based on capacitance and resistance has been developed. The touch screen can be operated by stylus and finger, support multi touch, etc., and significantly improve the recognition efficiency of the touch screen

with the continuous improvement of users' requirements for touch technology, the touch technology of locking six directions with a single vehicle polyurethane material can certainly not meet people's needs, so the hybrid touch technology will certainly become one of the development directions of touch technology in the future

4. Tactile feedback technology

the continuous development of touch display technology has brought convenient operation mode and good visual quantitative measurement effect to people. At the same time, it ignores a tactile feedback to users during touch operation. At present, there is little research on tactile feedback technology. The American immersion company has launched a tactile feedback technology called forcefeedback. This technology uses mechanical motors to generate vibration or movement. It can simulate tactile effects such as jumping, object falling and damping movement. It is also a tactile feedback technology that is widely used at present. Senseg's e-Sense technology uses the principle of bioelectric field to generate a tactile feedback. Developing more realistic tactile feedback technology can bring new touch experience to users, so tactile feedback technology is also a direction of touch technology development in the future
